District Strategic Planning Committee Meeting Overview
Continue review of planning documents to identify strategic challenges and establish preliminary goals
Maury Pearl will provide an executive summary of the external and internal scan data collected to date (e.g. online class retention and success rates, district-wide and Board of Trustees SWOT analysis, emerging workforce trends, etc). After Maury’s presentation, we will identify and discuss key elements in the data and the strategic challenges they present. We will begin the process of establishing preliminary goals to address our strategic challenges. Data notebooks are being compiled and will be sent electronically prior to the meeting and we will make a hard copy as well for each committee member so that the data can be easily referenced.
Continue review and revision of the mission, vision and core values statements
At the last meeting, we broke into groups and made suggestions for revising and updating the mission statement. The three suggestions for revision will be reviewed. At the November 29, 2011 meeting, we will continue the review and updating of the vision and core values sections of the current strategic plan.
Student Success Task Force recommendations
At our last meeting, we unfortunately ran out of time to have any in-depth discussion of the Student Success Task Force (SSTF) recommendations. However everyone was asked to read the recommendations and several members of the Strategic Planning Committee attended the L.A. Town Hall meeting. The SSTF met on November 9th to review all the feedback we received to date and begin revision of the recommendations. Yasmin Delahoussaye will discuss what changed, what is likely to change, what remained the same, and what happens next. What is important to understand is that the SSTF recommendations will be part of Board of Governors sponsored bills and potential regulation changes. They will also form the basis of the state Chancellor’s Office Strategic Plan and therefore our Strategic Plan.
